ACADEMICS: Scholar Students Testify to Legislative Committee
On Thursday, September 23, 2021 the Scholars Academy Magnet for Business and Law sophomore and junior classes testified to the South Carolina Joint Legislative and Citizens Committee on Children, which travels the state hearing concerns related to the welfare of our young people and then creates a report given to the legislature as advisement for their upcoming session. Our students spoke on the need for better comprehensive health education, more mental health services, better education on how to identify potential abuse, why we have to discuss issues of racism with our young people, the need for masks in schools, and the benefits of asynchronous learning for students’ mental health. We are proud of them for taking the opportunity to use their voice.
