ACADEMICS: Congratulations to Jada Broome
Congratulations to Scholars Academy Magnet for Business and Law junior Jada Broome, who this week saw her name land on Mars! Jada participated in NASA’s 2020 Name the Mars Rover contest. From over 28,000 entries, Jada’s entry was one of the 155 that we designated as a semi-finalist. Jada chose the name Amica, which means friend in Latin, because of the potential life-sustaining relationship Mars may offer us. All 155 semifinalists’ proposed rover names and essays have been stenciled onto a tiny silicon chip, which will ride along mounted to the top of the rover as Perseverance explores the Red Planet.
