ACADEMICS: Senora Salgado’s Spanish Classes Celebrate Día de los Muertos!

“Día de los Muertos” or “Day of the Dead” is celebrated on November 1st and 2nd in Mexico and by people of Mexican heritage in other parts of the world. This tradition is a unique and colorful way of honoring and remembering deceased loved ones.

  • November 1st is often referred to as “Día de los Inocentes” (Day of the Innocents) or “Día de los Angelitos” (Day of the Little Angels). This day is dedicated to remembering deceased children.
  • November 2nd is the primary day of celebration, known as “Día de los Muertos.” On this day, families remember and honor all their deceased relatives and friends.

During Día de los Muertos, families create ofrendas (altars) with offerings, such as favorite foods, photos, and mementos, to celebrate the lives of those who have passed away. It’s a time for remembrance, reflection, and celebration of the lives of the deceased.
